aversion

This page is from my personal notes, and has not been specifically reviewed for public consumption. It might be incomplete, wrong, outdated, or stupid. Caveat lector.

The most important thing to know about aversion (avoidance / fear / ...) as an emotional response is that it's, at best, exponentially less informative than having positive motivations:

(see also learning from success is better than failure, focus on what you want to see more of).

The other most important thing is that the healthy way to handle aversion when you do notice it is not to be averse to it. As with any other emotion, we want to take a posture of welcoming, appreciating what it is trying to do for us. Joe Hudson's "if you can't love the feeling, love the resistance".
